Intel 3D Xpoint Memory is 1,000 Times Faster Than SSDs, Biggest Breakthrough Since 1989

Micron-Intel 3D Xpoint™ technology wafers
SPR's : 3D Xpoint Memory, created by Intel and Micron, is claimed to be 1000 times faster than modern SSDs. It could be used to replace both a computer’s RAM and its SSD. Intel 3D Xpoint Memory has more endurance compared to its competitors and it’s already in production.
Today, Intel and Micron announced that they have developed a new method to store data that is denser, faster, and tougher than its competitors like solid state drives. This new 3D Xpoint memory (pronounced cross-point) is already in the production. The company announced that this new category of non-volatile storage is 1,000 times faster than the currently used NAND architecture used in SSDs and memory cards.
This new class of memory can be used both as non-volatile as well as system memory. Intel 3D Xpoint Memory can be used to replace both a computer’s SSD and its RAM. These new memory chips could be used to increase the performance of basically all devices- cell phones, laptops, supercomputers– and everything.
Intel and Micron are claiming that 3D Xpoint Memory is a major breakthrough in the storage technology since the advent of NAND in 1989. Companies claim it to have higher endurance than existing NAND flash memory along with the speed. 3D Xpoint Memory is about 10 times denser- so more data could be stored in the space, making this storage solution affordable and energy efficient.

The new Intel 3D Xpoint Memory uses Xpoint memory cells, instead of the traditional transistors to make up the core of the memory. It changes the properties to have a high or low electrical resistance, which indicates 1’s and 0’s respectively. As the name suggests, the memory cells are stacked in a 3D cross pattern and allows each cell to be accessed individually for writing purposes. By this individual reporting, Intel 3D Xpoint Memory can last 100s of times longer before breakage and perform 1000 times faster.
Intel hopes that these chips would initially help in speeding up big data machines. Intel 3D Xpoint Memory is already in production, though it’s uncertain when it’ll be available for PCs.

How Microsoft has impacted My life and how I plan to bring a change to the society being an MSA

Microsoft is not about greed. It's about innovation and fairness.
-Bill Gates

Hello everyone…

As we all know Microsoft is a household name for all computer enthusiasts. Intriguingly, its not just “computer geeks” who know about Microsoft but all also regular non-tech people as well. This is probably one of the greatest achievements of this company along with the other ground breaking feats it has made. Now coming back to my perspective.
I'm Shivam Patsariya, pursuing B.E in Computer Science and Engineering from Institute of Engineering,Jiwaji University, Gwalior. As a part of "Microsoft Student Associate Program", I'm writing How Microsoft has impacted my life.

It was the year 2002. I still remember the day when I went to my uncle's house where I first saw a computer. It was for my brother who was an engineering student. He switched it on and “Microsoft Windows 95" was displayed. I was only eight years old. My mind was full of curiosity as how that TV like box could produce  sound, display and do such a long list of tasks in no time (Later I came to know that it was the monitor and  there exist another device called CPU). My brother started doing some work in it and, I sat beside him in  astonishment trying to understand what he was actually up to. To my query he replied that he was performing programming. I asked him was that all he could do on PC...He smiled and opened me a game, the  prince. It was then when I touched a PC for the first time. My interests grew more when he showed  me the MS Paint,Word Pad,Pinball game, and a small video of an song. As days passed by and days  turned into years, I got more familiar with the Windows. Slowly, I realized the Microsoft Windows is indeed  a "World where Imagination and Reality Converge". I could see the world through it; and for the last 13  years saga of MICROSOFT has been a never ending kaleidoscope travelling from an era of MS Windows 95,  through MS Windows 98, MS Windows ME, MS Windows XP, MS Windows Vista, Windows 7,Windows 8..to Windows 8.1 being my current platform. nd now w8ing MS windows 9

So Let's Begin

I am starting with Microsoft Windows, which is an Operating System ,the most important system software. I'm currently using Windows 8.1 Operating System. My Laptop contains most of the Microsoft products and apps It is very basic and apparently most important example to show how i'm dependent on Microsoft.

1. MS Office 2013

Microsoft Office is one of the most important and useful tool i have ever used. MS-Office helped me to make attractive PowerPoint Presentations, writing documents and important application in MS-Word etc. I use to spend my childhood's holidays in making drawings in MS-Paint.

2. OneDrive

OneDrive provides free online storage of 15GB.
--I can access my files from any part of the Globe.
--I can share my files.
--It gives me online access to Office.

3. WINDOWS 8.1
WINDOWS 8.1 is the most beautiful Operating System i have ever used. Beautiful design, faster processing , Cool tiles interface, fastest booting time and many more features. I have used XP, WINDOWS 7 , WINDOWS Vista few years back and i was impressed by their performances, But Windows 8.1 is best updation to next level n hope upcoming Windows 9 is best oS .

4. Visual Studio
Creating Windows desktop apps, Windows 8 Metro apps wouldn't come in existence without Visual Studio. Now a days, creating apps has become a prior in IT field nd It very easy to use n having user friendly syntax.

5. Windows Phone 8
Windows Phone are attractive and beautifully created devices in the market. Most of which are running on Qualcomm's Snapdragon series of processors which provides a smooth experience to user. I m also Planning to Buy Lumia 630 bcz it is budget phone with window 8.1

6. Others

- I use to make movies with the help of Movie Maker , which provides a creative layout and easily helping tutorials.

- I loved Midtown Madness , which was a computer game published by Microsoft.

-Windows Defender is much better tool which is use in my laptop i dont need any Antivirus Program with is Its suficent 4 me, an anti Spyware software which helps protecting from malware activities.

- Bing, a coolest search engine with good layout and for fast results

7. Microsoft Encarta

Microsoft Encarta-the encyclopedia provided by Microsoft with its large stock of articles, numerous photos and illustrations, music clips, videos, interactive contents, maps and various other resources was a huge help to me for the preparation of my projects. Although it was available online by annual subscription or by purchase on DVD, many articles could also be viewed online. In 2009, as Microsoft announced that it was discontinuing Encarta, it felt to me like the end of an era. Encarta was one of the best products of Microsoft which I have ever used and I will always miss the ease with which I used to complete all my projects with it.

This is how i planned to bring a change to the society being a Microsoft Student Associate -

As a Microsoft Student Associate, i will make a group of students who are fan of Microsoft Products and together we can bring the change in following ways-

1. Organizing Workshops- With the help of my group members and other MSAs ,i will organize workshops which will help the students to learn new technologies and tools.

2. Organizing Events and Seminars- I will organize seminars which will provide the knowlegde regarding new products launched by Microsoft like Latest version of Windows-OS (8.1), Office(13), Devices running Windows-os etc.

3. Making Groups,Pages on Social Networking Websites- I will make groups on Social Networking websites and keep updating the group with Latest news of Microsoft's new inventions. Also i will keep updating the information regarding the Events, Workshop that are going to be held in the Campus.

I'm a big fan of Microsoft and always wanted to work with such a reputed company. I will always try to make the events and workshops, a big success.

Looking forward to be an MSA :)

Thanks and Regards,
Shivam Patsariya
